The Shoes for Charity program has been one of our most popular outreach initiatives. Recent beneficiaries include Angel’s Place, Jefferson Performing Arts Center, NOLA Dogs Race, the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra, and the annual Krewe’s for Karnival First Responder event. 2019 Theme Reveal Party Benefit’s Angel’s Place & Period Poverty

At this year’s annual Theme Reveal party, members generously donated toys, supplies and goods to Angel’s Place for their annual Christmas party. Angel’s Place provides ongoing services to children with life threatening illnesses and their families. Their Christmas party is a magical event and where families can enjoy caroling, crafts, food and a visit with Santa. Through a partnership with our Theme Reveal party host, Oak Wine Bar, we were also able to raise over $700 to donate to the organization. We are excited to announce that this year’s Honorary Muse is Patricia Clarkson. She is the first honorary muse in the Krewe’s nineteen-year history to be honored twice – in 2012 and 2019. Clarkson’s illustrious career has spanned more than three decades. The Sirens floats, traditionally the final floats to roll in our parade, make an appearance in Arcade Fire’s music video for “Electric Blue” off their latest album Everything Now. As New Orleans transplants, the band reportedly worked on their new album throughout Mardi Gras, taking breaks to join the festivities. The music video features the band’s lead singer, Régine Chassagne, elegantly strolling and dancing her way through the post-parade streets.
